An exploration of the practical and ethical considerations faced by conservators. Drawing on several case studies of paintings from a number of local museums, different approaches, techniques and skills will be illustrated. Conservation treatments described will include the consolidation of the flaking paint layers of flood-damaged paintings and the thread-by-thread tear repair procedures, among other techniques. The materials used in the fascinating processes will be on hand to be described.
A table will be booked at the Café Piazza on Church Street for a meal beforehand for those who would like to join. Please confirm on your booking slip if you would like to book a place. Please note this is not included in the ticket price.
There is level access in to the Meeting House and a lift to the first floor.
