The lion and the dragon - a talk by Rufus Bird
Lecture | Leigh Village Hall
Friday 23 September 2016 - 14:45 until 16:00
Rufus Bird, Deputy Surveyor of The Queen's Works of Art, will give an illustrated talk on the Chinese and Japanese works of art in the Royal Collection. The collection has been shaped over hundreds of years through conventional purchases and diplomatic gifts which document the official encounters between Britain and the Far East. Rufus will explain how these objects were used, modified and displayed, especially in reference to Carlton House, Brighton Pavilion and Buckingham Palace.
This event has been organised by the Dorset Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
