Geoffrey Preston decorative plasterwork workshop and Great Fulford
Talk and Tour | Geoffrey Preston Sculpture & Design
Monday 19 September 2016 - 11:00 until 16:00
In the morning the group will visit Geoffrey Preston‘s workshop at Ide. Geoffrey is renowned for his fine and decorative plasterwork, having worked on commissions throughout the country, including the National Trust’s Uppark House restoration. The group will learn about the skills involved in the creation of this unique sculptural form and see work in progress on current projects.
The visit continues in the afternoon to nearby Great Fulford for a private tour of the house where the group will see Geoffrey’s award winning ceiling in the Great Drawing Room. The house also contains some superb early 16th century panelling. Badly damaged in the Civil War, Great Fulford was remodelled by the architect James Wyatt in 1805.
After the tour of the house guests are free to wander in the gardens and grounds.
Please note that lunch is not included. A list of local pubs will be provided.
This event has been organised by the Devon Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
