Organised by the Devon Volunteer Fundraising Committee

Wells - the cathedral city and St Cuthbert's

Talk and Tour | Wells Cathedral

Thursday 1 September 2016 - 10:00 until 17:00

This is the first of two visits by the Devon committee to cathedrals with magnificent west fronts. The day in Wells will be led by Jerry Sampson, the Cathedral's archaeologist. The group will visit Wells Cathedral and the Close in the morning with entry into some of the places not normally accessible, including the Chained Library and the Vicars' Hall.

Lunch is included and in the afternoon the visit will continue to the Bishops Palace followed by tea in one of the finest houses on Cathedral Green, where the owner has a magnificent collection of Arts and Crafts furniture and ceramics.

At the end of the day there is an optional visit to St Cuthbert's, the Wells parish church.

This event has been organised by the Devon Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
