The railways come to York
Tour | Micklegate Bar
Wednesday 24 August 2016 - 10:30 until 12:30
Meeting near Micklegate Bar for tea/coffee at the Your Bike Shed Café, Jane Crease and Dorothy Nott will lead a tour showing how the coming of the railways changed this corner of old York with a new approach to the city. The tour will include such landmarks as the site of the old (1841) station in Tanner Row, the Lutyens-designed North Eastern Railway War Memorial and the York City War Memorial, also by Lutyens.
As numbers are limited, the tour will be repeated in the afternoon 2pm - 4pm.
This event has been organised by the York & East Yorkshire Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
