Scampston Hall and Gardens
Tour | Scampston Hall
Tuesday 2 August 2016 - 12:15 until 16:30
In the tercentennial year of the birth of the famous landscape designer Capability Brown (1716–1783) this visit has been organised to Scampston Hall, the site of one of his most important commissions in Yorkshire. Guests are asked to meet at the garden café for a sandwich lunch followed by a private guided tour of the Grade II* Regency house. After the tour guests will take the circuit walk around the grounds to view some of the Capability Brown additions before visiting the Walled Garden, designed by Piet Oudolf. The recently restored Victorian conservatory has an interesting exhibition on life on the estate in the late 19th century as well as a current art display.
This event has been organised by the York & East Yorkshire Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
