Visit | Coventry Cathedral
Tuesday 28 June 2016 - 11:00 until 16:00
On the night of 14 November 1940 the Luftwaffe devastated Coventry. The cathedral burned with the city, having been hit by several incendiary devices. The decision to rebuild it was taken the next morning. This visit will comprise two tours, the first focusing on medieval Coventry, taking in the ruins of the Priory of St Mary and the old cathedral. The second will explore the competition- winning design of Basil Spence’s modern cathedral and the best of the 1960s art displayed within it, as well as the medieval glass collection.
This event has been organised by the London Events Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
