Somerset country churches tour 2
Tour | Meet at Ashton Way car park
Wednesday 1 June 2016 - 09:30 until 17:00
A full day coach tour visiting 5 Somerset historic churches, under the expert leadership of Lindsey Shaw-Miller MA. Following a very successful event in 2015, there is now a second tour, centred on churches in the Bruton area. Every church has a unique art history interest and story about its care over the centuries. In the morning the visit begins with: Holy Trinity, Norton Malreward (a Norman church); All Saints West Camel (with features from 13th, 14th and 15th centuries); St Mary Magdalene, Ditcheat (which has connections with Glastonbury Cathedral). In the afternoon visit St Peter, Redlynch, with a very interesting reredos, and finally St Mary, Bruton, which dates from the mediaeval period, with interesting restorations over the centuries.
Please note car should be left at Ashton Way Car Park, before boarding the coach. There will be a lunch stop at the Manor House Inn and tea will available at the last church visit. Lunch is not included.
This event has been organised by the Bristol and Bath Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
