Visit to Champs Hill and the exhibition of paintings from the Newlyn School of Art
Special Event | Champs Hill
Tuesday 17 May 2016 - 13:00 until 15:30
Not usually open to the public, unless by special appointment, this is a rare chance to view the Bowerman's significant private collection of paintings from the Newlyn School of Art and the gardens.
Start the visit with a light sandwich lunch, tea and coffee at 1pm, then visit the collection itself at 2pm. After this you will be free to explore the gardens at leisure.
Champs Hill has been developed around three disused sand quarries since 1960. The woodlands are full of beautiful rhododendrons and azaleas, which are hoped will be flowering at the time of the visit, and the most striking feature is the RHS collection of heathers over 300 cultivars. The garden also has some very interesting sculptures as well as wonderful views.
This event has been organised by the Sussex Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
