Ceramics - Dick Henrywood

Study Day | Somerton Parish Rooms

Sunday 24 April 2016 - 10:30 until 15:30

In the morning, the first of two lectures will be a general introduction to the Staffordshire Potteries and will unravel the mystery of terms such as porcelain, china, pottery and stoneware and will explore famous names such as Wedgwood and Spode and look at wares between the 18th and mid 20th centuries. The second will look in more detail at two types of ware: Blue and White printed wares (forever thought of as just Willow pattern) and jugs in their endless varieties.

The afternoon will concentrate on the ceramic objects which you are asked to bring. Please make sure these items are clearly labelled with your name and telephone number. Great care will be taken but we cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage.

This event has been organised by the Somerset Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
