Annual lecture - Dukes of Hamilton and Hamilton Palace collection

Lecture | Arts Building

Thursday 21 April 2016 - 18:30 until 20:00

The Fife Committee are honoured that Dr Godfrey Evans, Principal Curator of European Decorative Arts at National Museum of Scotland will give a talk on The Dukes of Hamilton and the famous Hamilton Palace Collection. Following two sales of the Palace's contents in 1882 and 1919, this treasure house was demolished. Dr Evans will examine the development of the Palace and it's collections. He will tell how NMS will display part of the Old State Drawing Room along with the recently acquired Hamilton-Rothschild Tazza, two silver-gilt services made for the Emperor Napoleon along with other Hamilton items in the new galleries which open in Summer 2016.

This event has been organised by the Fife Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
