Talk and Recital - Russia’s musical soul - SOLD OUT
Lecture | Royal Over-Seas League
Wednesday 20 April 2016 - 19:00 until 21:00
Andy Pankhurst, artist and lecturer at the National Portrait Gallery, will discuss their unprecedented exhibition Russia and the Arts: The Age of Tolstoy and Tchaikovsky, which highlights some of the amazing developments that took place in the Russian arts from 1870 to 1917, and consider why, although these poets, writers and musicians are famous in Western Europe, the painters themselves are not.
Music by Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky and Rimsky-Korsakov, will be performed by ROSL prize-winners on solo violin, piano and in song.
This event has been organised by the London Events Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
