Gwen Yarker will tell the story of British landscape painting centred on Dorset between c.1890-1914. Described as 'lost in British Art' by the Courtauld, this group of talented painters who trained at the Slade include Philip Wilson Steer, Charles Conder, Henry Tonks, Augustus John, William Orpen, Vanessa Bell and Roger Fry amongst other art historians. Gwen Yarker trained at The Courtauld Gallery and was Curator of Art at the National Maritime Museum and much involved with the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum and Dorchester museums.
This lecture is co-hosted by the Dorset and Somerset Art Fund Fundraisng Committees.
