Organised by the Kent Volunteer Fundraising Committee

Curator-led tour of the Permanent Collection of the Jerwood Gallery

Guided Tour | Jerwood Gallery

Thursday 22 October 2015 - 10:30

The Jerwood Gallery opened in March 2012 behind a fishing beach in the centre of Hastings Old Town, after significant local controversy. A fine modern building (given a national award in 2013 by the Royal Institute of British Architects), it houses a permanent collection focusing on works from the First World War to the middle of the last century. Featured artists include LS Lowry, Augustus John, Stanley Spencer, Walter Sickert, Ben Nicholson and Maggi Hambling.

Victoria Howarth will talk about the Jerwood story, and will guide the group around the varied and important permanent collection.

This event has been organised by the Kent Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
