Digging for Richard III, by Mike Pitts

Talk | Royal Over-Seas League

Monday 12 October 2015 - 19:00 until 20:30

Richard III reigned for just over two years. It took five months more than that for his excavated bones to be reburied. What have we learnt from this extraordinary episode – about Richard, about archaeology, and about us?

Mike Pitts, archaeologist, award-winning journalist and broadcaster, is the author of Digging for Richard III: How Archaeology Found the King, the page-turning and independent overview of the dramatic discovery, scientific analysis and subsequent events. Pitts had access to all parties involved in the dig, following the quest from an idea in an Edinburgh bookshop to the day when two archaeologists carefully raised the bones from a car park in Leicester.

This event has been organised by the London Events Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
