John Constable: Conservative Revolutionary

Lecture | Sir Bernard Miller Conference Centre

Thursday 6 August 2015 - 10:30 until 12:30

This Cookham series of lectures continues with a fascinating talk by Dr Mark Evans on one of our greatest artists. Mark is a distinguished art historian who is Senior Curator of Paintings at the V&A; His interests include the Renaissance and 19th century English painting. He curated the recent and highly praised exhibition John Constable: The Making of a Master at the V&A. He has written extensively. Amongst the materiel at V&A is a large collection of the artist’s oil sketches that have won so much admiration, and for many these will offer a new view of his work.

The afternoon in Cookham may be enhanced by a walk along the river, and a visit to the Stanley Spencer Gallery.

This event has been organised by the Berkshire Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
