Steeple Bumpstead guided architectural tour

Talk and Tour | Steeple Bumpstead

Wednesday 24 June 2015 - 11:00 until 16:00

A little known village concealing some architectural treasures. James Bettley, the editor of Pevsner's guides to Essex and Suffolk, will conduct this walking tour.

The route will take in St Mary's church, founded in the 11th century and remodelled in the 14th century. The splendid aisle roof with elegantly carved tie beams is testament to the skill of local craftsmen, as are the many timber-framed houses in the village, including a Moot Hall comparable to the Guildhall in Thaxstead.

This event has been organised by the Essex Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
