Guided walk: Exploring Soho, London

Talk and Tour | Meet at Charing Cross Mainline Station outside Marks & Spencer

Thursday 11 June 2015 - 11:30 until 13:30

Molly Rumbelow will lead the annual London walking tour, exploring the many facets of Soho. Whilst Soho is often tarnished with a slightly less than salubrious image there is a wealth of diversity in its architecture and history. From the seventeenth century onwards many squares and fine houses were built beginning with the Earl of Leicester’s magnificent town house in 1630. On this walk the group will visit some of these squares as well passing by the sites where Sheraton and other craftsmen had their workshops and where many famous people such as Thomas de Quincey, William Blake and Karl Marx once lived.

This event has been organised by the Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
