A day in Penzance
Visit and Talk | Penzance
Wednesday 6 May 2015 - 11:30 until 16:00
The day is divided into a visit to the home of Donald and Madeline Main, known for their support of young artists, who are kindly hosting the party for lunch. We will also visit the Exchange Gallery and Newlyn Art Gallery with the Mains and tours will be lead by the director, James Green.
Newlyn Art Gallery opened in 1895 and was designed by James Hicks of Redruth. It was refurbished by the London based practice MUMA in 2007 and the Exchange Gallery opened in the same year. The Exchange Gallery inhabits the old telephone exchange and has a striking contemporary glass façade. Both galleries concentrate on contemporary work.
This event has been organised by the Cornwall Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
