Houghton revisited – Walpole masterpieces from the Hermitage. Talk by Dr Thierry Morel

Talk | The Wallace Collection

Thursday 26 February 2015 - 14:30 until 15:30

The magnificent art collection of Britain’s first Prime Minister, Sir Robert Walpole, sold to Catherine the Great to adorn the Hermitage in St Petersburg, was reassembled in its spectacular original setting for the first time in two hundred years for the Houghton Hall exhibition. The curator of this exhibition, Dr Thierry Morel, will describe the role of the curator.

This is the fourth of 5 lectures this season investigating different aspects of art, - historical collections, research, fakes and forgeries, curating an exhibition and conservation.

This event has been organised by the London Events Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
