Manchester made them! They made Manchester!

Lecture | St James' Church

Tuesday 17 June 2014 - 14:00

Arthur Schuster, Henry Edvard Schnuck, William Crawford Williamson and Joseph Whiteworth - they gave their names to University of Manchester buildings: who were they?

Dr Diana Leitch, FRSC, local and family historian, will talk about her research on four eminent Manchester men who gave their names to buildings at the University of Manchester. As well as looking at the men themselves she will present information about their background and their families, their role in Manchester and wider society and the reasons why buildings were named after them.

This event has been organised by a local supporter group to help raise money for the Art Fund.
