May garden party at Cotswold Farm

Special Event |

Wednesday 14 May 2014 - 14:00

Iona Birchall has kindly offered to host a garden party at her historic Arts and Crafts house, set in a quiet valley with views extending towards the Marlborough Downs. In 1926, the architect Sidney Barnsley was commissioned with his assistant Norman Jewson, to extend the original c.1700 farmhouse in the Arts and Crafts style with leaded windows and stone drip moulds.

Jewson completed the work after Barnsley's work, including fine interior plaster work, and laid out the terrace and gardens, which fall away to the fields below and are enclosed by Cotswold stone walls and yew hedges, containing a fine collection of shrubs, roses, herbaceous plants and bulbs.

This event has been organised by a local supporter group to help raise money for the Art Fund.
