Utmost Fidelity, The Painting Lives of Marianne and Adrian Stokes

Lecture | Royal Grammar School

Wednesday 6 November 2013 - 19:00 until 21:00

English landscape painter, Adrian Stokes RA (1854-1935) and his Austrian-born wife, Marianne (1855-1927) met in Britanny before moving to St Ives where they were leading members of the artists' colony and eventually lived in London. Magdalen Evans, exhibition organiser and art researcher, will give the lecture describing how Marianne's interest was in religious and folk art, her style restrained and spiritual whereas Adrian's approach was extrovert and robust.

This event has been organised by a local supporter group to raise money for the Art Fund.
