Cartmel Priory and Holker Hall

Visit and Talk | Cartmel Priory

Wednesday 16 October 2013 - 11:15 until 16:00

Cartmel Priory was founded in 1190 by William Marshall, later 1st Earl of Pembroke. After the dissolution of the monasteries in 1536 the villagers petitioned for it to be kept as a place of worship and this was granted. There will be a tour of the Priory in the morning and then in the afternoon, Lord Cavendish at Holker Hall will give a talk on the house and garden.

This event has been organised by a local supporter group to help raise money for the Art Fund.
