Westminster Cathedral

Visit | Westminster Cathedral

Tuesday 24 September 2013 - 11:15

A little over 100 years old Westminster Cathedral, mother church of the Catholic community in England and Wales, was built. It has been described as a ‘great religious building which, though clearly rooted in the architectural concerns of the late nineteenth century, has timeless qualities which set it apart from more commonplace works of the age’. Its magnificent neo-byzantine exterior houses a rich interior of over 100 different varieties of marble and Stations of the Cross by Eric Gill as well as displays of rare ecclesiastical objects, vestments, chalices and sacred relics which are prized as being amongst the Cathedral’s most treasured possessions.

This event has been organised by a local supporter group to help raise money for the Art Fund.
