Ranger’s House and the Wernher Collection

Visit | Ranger's House

Thursday 15 August 2013 - 11:30 until 14:30

Ranger’s House, a Georgian villa built 1723, today houses the Wernher Collection, an outstanding display of nearly 700 works of art purchased by diamond magnate Sir Julius Wernher (1850-1912). Curator Annie Kemkaran-Smith will give a fascinating insight into the collector’s mind, illustrating her talk with a selection of works for our closer viewing. The collection’s highlights include sumptuous jewellery, tiny carved Gothic ivories, fine bronze and silver treasures, paintings and porcelain, all marvellous examples of medieval and Renaissance craftsmanship.

This event has been organised by a local supporter group to help raise money for the Art Fund.
