Visit to Compton Verney and Stoneleigh Abbey

Talk and Tour | Compton Verney

Thursday 16 May 2013 - 10:45

'Bellini, Botticelli, Titian...500 years of Italian art' comprises forty pictures from the City of Glasgow's civic collection. These are works of the highest quality, some rarely seen outside of Glasgow. In the afternoon a guided tour has been organised of the West Wing at Stoneleigh Abbey. Jane Austen visited the house in 1806 and descriptions of the house, grounds and family were afterwards woven into her novels. There will be time to enjoy the gardens and landscape for which Humphrey Repton drew up proposals.

This event has been organised by a local supporter group to help raise money for the Art Fund.
