Preview Visit to the Oriental Museum

Museum Visit | Oriental Museum

Thursday 9 May 2013 - 15:00

This is the only museum in the North devoted entirely to the art and archaeology of the Orient. The Chinese and Egyptian collections are among the finest to be found anywhere in Britain. One of the features of the Egyptian collection is the servant girl statuette - one of the ten items selected by the BBC for it's A History of the World website, in conjunction with the British Museum. We will have a very special preview of the new Japanese and Korean galleries, due to open in August 2013, and of the 19th century ivory figures from an Art Fund bequest.

There will be a talk by the curator, and light refreshments will be served.

This event has been organised by a local supporter group to help raise money for the Art Fund.
