Lecture Double Bill

Lecture | Concord College

Wednesday 8 May 2013 - 13:00

This lecture double bill will look at two fascinating stories about local artists and architecture in Shropshire.

Local author Robbie Burns will share his knowledge of the renowned sculptor Captain Adrian Jones, who was born, educated and buried in Ludlow. Famous for the iconic bronze statue Peace Quadriga on the Wellington Arch at Hyde Park Corner, Jones also worked on the Bridgnorth War Memorial in Castle Gardens.

Gareth Williams, Curator and Head of Learning to the Weston Park Foundation, will then deliver a lecture on 'The Lost Houses of Shropshire'. This talk will examine some of Shropshire's lost heritage and considers the factors behind the demise of some of the county's great houses, estates and collections.

This event has been organised by a local supporter group to help raise money for the Art Fund.
