The Dorothie Hewlett Bequest

Talk | Gracefields Art Centre

Thursday 7 March 2013 - 10:30

Born in Africa but raised in Dumfries, art lover and collector Dorothie Hewlett died in 2011 and it was her express wish that her remarkable art collection should return to her Scottish home. The collection consists of lithographs, oils, etchings and watercolours. Many of the works are by leading Scottish artists and there is a fascinating collection of prints by Picasso, Matisse and Braque.

Curator Dawn Henderby, who knew Dorothie personally, will tell the story of this wonderful collection.

This event has been organised by a local supporter group to help raise money for the Art Fund.
