Vivien Heffernan is an Art History tutor for continuing education departments of Essex and Cambridge universities. she has a wide experience of lecturing in the UK and abroad and is a practising artist. In this lecture Vivien asks why so few women achieved artistic recognition before the 20th century and looks at the policies of teaching academies in the 18th century and at women who succeeded despite the obstacles.
This event has been organised by a local supporter group to help raise money for the Art Fund.
