Edinburgh: The Museum of Scotland and the Royal Company of Archers

Coach Visit | Edinburgh

Wednesday 3 October 2012 - 09:00 until 17:00

The museum of Scotland was built in the mid 1800's and re-opened in 2011. Many notable items have been acquired there with Art Fund support. There will be a tour of the current major exhibition of the Collection of Catherine the Great mounted in collaboration with The Hermitage Museum, which has provided over 600 artifacts.

Our afternoon visit will be at the headquarters of the Royal Company of Archers where we will learn the history of the Royal Company and tour the 19th Century building, with its collections of paintings and silver.

Lunch will be held in Newington at the wonderful home of Diana Philipson, widow of Sir Robin Philipson who was a keen collector of contemporary art.

This event has been organised by a local supporter help group to raise money for the Art Fund.
