Guided tour of Welbeck Abbey

Guided Tour | Welbeck Abbey

Wednesday 19 September 2012 - 10:00

Meeting at Welbeck at 10am, we will be given a in-depth guided tour of the Abbey by either Gareth Hughes, present curator of the Portland Collection, or Derek Adlam, recently retired curator. We will visit the Harley Foundation Studios where members of the Nottingham Art Fund Committee, Mark and Diana Roberts, have invited us to their studio where they restore European easel paintings. In addition to this we will visit the ceramics studio of Kyra Cane, whose porcelain has been award winning.

Students at the Artisan School of Food will prepare us lunch and wine will be served. In the afternoon, you are free to visit the Harley Gallery and it's current exhibition The Architecture of Cloth, Colour and Space by Ptolemy Mann, as well as Runners and Riders, a display about the Cavendish-Bentinck family's horseracing ties, at the Treasury. Though tea is not arranged, the Lime House Cafe , the Farm Shop, and the cafe at the Garden Centre will be open until 5pm for your enjoyment.

This event has been organised by a local supporter help group to raise money for the Art Fund
