Talk and Tour | Ryedale Folk Museum

Thursday 10 May 2012 - 14:00 until 18:00

Known as the Father of English Watercolour Painting, Francis Nicholson is credited with pioneering the style and many of its techniques which are still used today as well as inspiring J M W Turner, perhaps the greatest of all watercolour landscape artists.

Now the Nicholson Group of the Pickering and District Civic Society are planning to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the artist’s presidency of the Old Watercolour Society and his local ties with an exhibition at Ryedale Folk Museum.

Professor Bell, who has made a study of Francis Nicholson will talk on the new exhibition of his work on show in the Ryedale Folk Museum.
