Monday 5 March 2012 - 10:30 until 15:00

The Annual Art Fund Lecture for Durham and Cleveland at Bowes Museum has been arranged to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the acquisition by the museum, with the help of the Art Fund, of two paintings by Canaletto.

The event will take the form of a series of short talks presenting various aspects of eighteenth century Venetian artistic society.

The speakers are experts from Durham University and a short talk by Elizabeth Conran who oversaw the campaign to save the paintings for the Bowes Museum.

This will be the first event at the Museum since the signing of the agreement of: Cultural, educational and scholarly cooperation between the University of Durham and the Bowes Museum.
