This Talk is a brief look at the historical and cultural influences Afghanistan and how they have impacted the current situation.

Major General Peter Gilchrist CB will delve into the possible outcomes and conclude with a brief explanation of how to have a relatively safe experience when in Afghanistan, along with a unique slideshow of images.

Major General Peter Gilchrist CB served from November 2004 to August 2005 as the Deputy Commanding General of Combined Forces Command in Afghanistan, a US Command. During this time he was involved in the Presidential Inauguration, Counter Narcotics, Demobilisation, Disarmament and Reintegration (DDR, the set up of the reconciliation program. Major General Peter Gilchrist CB subsequently served as the Head of the British Defence Staff in the United States and the Defence Attaché.
