This Autumn Manchester Art Gallery is showcasing a Blockbuster exhibition of 140 works by Ford Madox Brown.

This lecture offers a valuable insight into his work by the exhibition curator Julian Treuherz. Brown was a pioneering figure who developed the style of the Pre Raphaelites through his rebellion as a painter of moral and historical subjects.

Julian will guide you through the 11 themes that the exhibition is divided into from Brown's family life to his landscape painting. Julian Treuherz is an independent art historian and curator, an expert in Victorian art, offering a wealth of knowledge in this area.

The exhibition is open from September 24th-29th January 2012 giving plenty of opportunity to visit before or after the lecture.
