Visit to Gaskell House

Talk | Gaskell House

Tuesday 18 October 2011 - 11:00 until 16:00

Built in the 1830's, 84 Plymouth Grove is a Grade II listed building and the previous home of Elizabeth and William Gaskell.

The building is a rarity in that all its internal and external features have been hardly changed, making it one of the few surviving houses of its type in the area. Enjoy a presentation of the history of the building, and its ongoing restoration, followed by a soup and sandwich lunch.

Browse the upstairs of the house developing the literacy associations it holds. Finish with a visit to the bookshop and indulgence in the cafe with delicious homemade cakes.
