Six Day Tour of Alsace

Tour | Alsace

4 – 9 September 2011

The Hertfordshire Art Fund Committee has organised a six day tour of the Alsace region of France. The visit will be centred around the city of Colmar with its picturesque old burghers' houses dating from the 16th and 17th centuries and its wonderful collection of art. Roger Hill will be the guide.Time will also be spent in Strasbourg, an historic city boasting a fine 11th century cathedral and a fascinating old town. The Alsace region is renowned for its wines, so there will be a drive along the 'Wine Route' with a chance for a little sampling.

On the outward journey there will be a stay in the centre of Rheims, with a guided visit either to its cathedral (where the kings of France were crowned) or to one of the Champagne houses for which the area is noted. There will also be a special dinner on the final night at a charming local restaurant. The hotel in Colmar is very central and there are restaurants nearby in most price ranges.

Travel will be by luxury coach with a collection and return service from your front door!
