The Houses and History of Yorkshire

There will be a five day tour of Yorkshire's finest historical properties and country houses. The visit will begin with a tour of York's Merchant Adventurers' Hall, the Treasurer's House and the Georgian town house Fairfax House. The next day there will be a visit to Bowes Museum which houses an extensive collection of fine art and decorative paintings belonging to the Bowes family. A visit to Wren's Newby Hall will follow. On the third day: a visit to Markenfield Hall built in 1310, followed by a visit to the 18th century Sutton Park which boasts an impressive collection of furniture, painting and porcelain. On the final day, there will be a visit to the National Trust's Nostell Priory where Robert Adam interiors, paintings by Kauffman and Hogarth and Chippendale furniture are on display.
