The Gardens at The Old Rectory, Farnborough and Woolston Mill House
Visit | The Old Rectory
Tuesday 12 July 2011 - 10:30 until 16:00
Two outstandingly beautiful Berkshire Downs gardens have been opened especially for Art Fund members. The Old Rectory garden is unique in its unexpected and cleverly designed combinations of flower beds and features grand wrought iron gates and a gazebo. It was home to John Betjeman. Next, and nestling beneath the White Horse at Uffington, Woolstone Mill is a secret garden of densely planted paths running alongside a stream that opens into individually planted enclosures. Created by the present owners from a bare field in 1976, it is full of delightful surprises.
