Visit | TBC

8 – 11 July 2011 - 08:40 until 18:00

An opportunity to see Norfolk's greatest historical highlights and country houses. The group will travel to Norfolk by coach from Glasgow and stay at The George Hotel in Swaffham where dinner will be taken each evening.

Saturday will be spent visiting Norwich: its Cathedral, medieval chruches and the Castle Museum which is home to the best collection of Norwich School paintings.

Sunday: A private visit to Holkham Hall, the seat of the Earls of Leicester. Its sumptuous contents and dramatic architecture make it one of the most important country houses in the country. The afternoon will be spent at Sandringham House, her Majesty the Queen's country retreat built in the Edwardian era.

Monday: a visit to Burghley House, an Elizabethan mansion house and seat of the Cecil Family. Next, a tour of the picturesque town of Stamford, built almost entirely of Lincolnshire limestone.
