Garthewin

Visit | Garthewin

Wednesday 15 June 2011 - 12:00

Formerly the ancestral home of the Wynne family, the earliest records of the house date back to the 14th century. The Elizabethan house which replaced it was knocked down, as was the Jacobean house which came next. Today Garthewin is largely in its 18th-century manifestation, with a few 20th-century additions from Clough Williams- Ellis, the creator of nearby Portmeirion.

There will be a talk from Garthewin's current owner, Michael Grime, Esq. Bring a picnic lunch and then enjoy a wander around the remarkable gardens. In the afternoon, a full tour of the house.
