Thursday 9 June 2011 - 09:25 until 17:45
A delightful opportunity to see Jersey's beauty and its impressive art works. The day's programme is as follows:
9.25am: Fly to Jersey on Blue Islands.
9.45am: Arrive in Jersey. Coach to St Helier.
10.00am: Private tour of 16 New Street, a beautiful Georgian House, with Charles Alluto, Director of the National Trust Jersey. The National Trust has recently rescued and renovated this historic building. Coffee and tea will be available after the tour and talk.
11.00am: Guided tour of the new exhibition, Hidden Treasures - Modern Masters, at the Jersey Museum, St Helier, with Louise Downey, Curator of Art. There will be ample time for Art Fund members to explore the museum in greater depth. There are two main sections of the museum: the Merchants House, a series of furnished rooms in the old house, and the Story of Jersey on the first floor.
12.30pm: Depart by coach for Susan Lea's house at Le Clos du Chemin, Les Grupieaux, St Peter where lunch will be served. The house is set in a beautiful Italian garden, with views over the bay back to St Helier. Please note that the coach will park at Wheatlands Golf Club, which is a short four-minute walk from Sue's house. Comfortable flat footwear will undoubtedly be beneficial for the day!
2.30pm: Depart by coach to go to the private residence of Lord and Lady Brownlow to view their stunning house and gardens.
3.30pm: From the Brownlows, the coach will take Art Fund members to St Brelade's Bay to visit the church and chapel, known for its fine Lalique glass, that are literally "perched" on the edge of the bay. Time permitting we will have tea somewhere between St Brelade's Bay and the airport.
4.45: Return to Jersey airport for check-in.
5.45: Return flight to Guernsey with Blue Islands.
Join us on what promises to be a day filled with art, history and beautiful gardens.
