Tuesday 7 June 2011 - 14:00 until 16:00

The home of the UK’s professional optometry body houses a museum and archive. Founded in 1901, the collection contains over 16,000 items relating to the human eye and visual aids as well as representations of these subjects in art. Among the many rare
and unusual objects on view are Old Master paintings, Georgian handcoloured satirical prints, 16th-century allegorical woodcuts and
19th-century fashion lithographs. The curator will give a talk on the history of the collection as visitors view the exhibits, including paintings that hang in the College’s prestigious meeting rooms.
