Coach Trip: Thornton Hough, Port Sunlight, and Lady Lever Gallery

| Thornton Hough, Port Sunlight, and the Lady Lever Gallery

Tuesday 5 April 2011 - 09:15

In the 1880s the Lord Leverhulme created an estate village to provide an ideal environment for his farm workers and for those employed at his Manor. At its centre is the Green, surrounded by two churches, a smithy, and houses ranging in size and style but evoking times past. There will be a visit to Thornton Manor, Lord Leverhulme's home before a guided to tour of the village. Then, to Port Sunlight, an industrial equivalent of the agricultural Thornton Hough, and then to the Lady Lever Gallery, one of the UK's finest collections of fine and decorative art.
