Lecture: Patrons of Opulence: The Marquesses of Bute

Matthew Williams, Curator of Cardiff Castle, will give a lecture on the houses built by or lived in by the Marquesses of Bute. Besides Cardiff Castle and Castell Coch (remodelled for the 3rd Marquess by William Burges) the lecture will include Mount Stuart on the Isle of Bute, and Dumfries House (Robert Adam's masterpiece which the Art Fund helped to save in 2007). The lecture will take place in the Royal Grammar and Alice Ottley School and a reception in the Perrins Hall with wine and light refreshmenst will follow. Non-members and friends are welcome.
