| The Menhuin Hall
Thursday 27 January 2011 - 10:00 until 12:00
Art Historian Eveline Eaton will lecture on Albrecht Durer; painter, printmaker and theorist of the Northern Renaissance. Durer was both a prolific artist (working in a variety of different media from woodcutting to watercolour) and the author of the first art theory in Germany. His texts were influenced by his knowledge of Humanism, the Italian Renaissance and principles of mathematics, perspective and ideal proportions.
The lecture will begin at 10.30 am but doors open at 10.00 for coffee. A complimentary glass of wine will be offered after the lecture.
