A private visit to St John's Gate and The Grand Priory Church, Clerkenwell

| St John's Gate and The Grand Priory Church

Wednesday 8 December 2010

The Priory of the Order of St John of Jerusalem was founded in 1140 as the headquarters of the English Hospitallers. The monastic order, founded before 1099 and devoted to nursing the sick, were the forerunners of the Royal Venerable Order of St John. This visit takes place, after extensive renovations, when the museum is not open to the general public.
