Screening:

| Robert Burns Centre Film Theatre

Thursday 25 November 2010

A screening of the documentary series "The Last of the Czars" will take place at the Burns Centre. Extracts from this film were shown by the producer, Helen Molchanoff, at the Museum of Scotland in 2005 and now this is an opportunity of seeing the entire documentary.

The film was made fourteen years ago when people who remembered the Imperial family were still alive to talk to the camera. There are some fantastic interviews with people aged between 85 and 101, interviews with Prince Nicholas Romanoff and Professor Dominic Lieven, as well as pre-Revolutionary archive. Sequences were shot in locations as wide ranging as Tobolsk, Ekaterinberg, Livadia in the Crimea and of course Moscow and St Petersburg.

Helen Molchanoff will introduce both screenings and share the excitement of her first hand knowledge of working on this documentary. She will be happy to answer any questions about her Russian experiences.
